On July 6, a birthday party has been held at the Shanghai World Expo for ten two years old pandas which are from Yaan, Sichuan several months ago. The party was organized by China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda and Shanghai Wild Animal Park and attracted many visitors. They sent birthday gifts and greetings to Expo panda Pingping and An’an.
Pingping and An’an were adopted by famous movie star Huang Xiaoming, who is the ambassador of China Conservation and Research Center and 2010 Shanghai Expo. He was at the party to help them celebrate their birthday.NCM who also adopted the pandas was present as an important guest. The birthday party was a grand occasion which attracted CCTV, OTV, Kuangming Daily and other news media. On behalf of president Mr. Pan Minqi, NCM senior vice president Mr. Ma Guozhen sent a special gift to the pandas- a Suzhou embroidery of three giant pandas which were extremely lifelike.
The embroidery work was planned to be taken to Bi Fengxia panda base in Ya’an. But it was sent to Shanghai Zoo at their request as a treat to the visitors.
A special guest from NCM Pan Jiayue was very excited to have a photograph taken with the pandas. She was guided around the home of panda He Shibi which was adopted by NCM. She said “What a giant panda He Shibi is. I will come to celebrate her birthday in the future.” ( He Shibi was put into Guangzhou Fanyu Zoo before, and has returned to Ya’an this year. It weighs over 120kg and is very healthy.) The famous movie star Mr. Huang Xiaoming sent his autograph to Pan Jiayue. |
