Mr. Pan Minqi pays great attention to public welfare. He thinks that the society needs public welfare, and people must repay the society. NCM started to finically support 32 poor dropout students of Maogou Town, Baojing City, Hunan in 1998. In the past 14 years, NCM staff totally donated RMB290,736.00 for 354 person-times. Some students went back to school with the money donated by NCM, and they got rid of illiteracy. Some students walked out of the poor mountain area, and entered universities. Besides, NCM also donated computers, printers, and school suppliers to Maogou Central Primary School. NCM representatives personally went to Maogou Town for three times. In 2001, NCM provided funds to rebuild the gate of the school.
Peng Guiyin is one of those 32 students who received donations from NCM. At that time, she was in Grade Three of Maogou Central Primany School. She only had her father and her sister in her family. Her father worked far away from home. She and her sister lived in a small room near the primary school. Their bed was made of wooden benches, and they only had fewer bedclothes. Two sisters cooked for themselves. Every week, they only spent RMB 2.00 for food. Mr. Pan and a few colleagues visited Peng Gui `s home in May, 2000. NCM representatives felt very sad when seeing two sister’s poor living situation. Mr. Pan has kept supporting Peng Guiyin and her family in the past 14 years. Peng Guiyin is very grateful to NCM and Mr. Pan, so she worked diligently. After graduated from senior middle school, she was admitted to Changsha University of Science & Technology where she majored in Chinese Language and Literacy. Peng Guiyin graduated from university this June. Later, she signed up for an examination for special hillock teachers of Hua Qiao School, Shui Yin Town, Baojing City, Hunan. (Special hillock teachers are those teachers who work in the far-away mountain area. Their service period is 3 years. Those teachers can find a new job after the service period is up.) Peng Guiyin was successfully become a special hillock teacher there because of her excellent examination. This August, she went back to her hometown to work as a teacher.
When talking with the editor recently, Peng Guiyin emphasized: “It is Mr. Pan that helps me to overcome many economical crises in the past 10 years”; it is NCM’s help that warms my cold heart. I understand the kindness in the living world, and grow up healthily. As the saying goes, ‘water of the TU, when springs with reportedly’, I also want to help those children whose families are in financial difficulties as NCM does. However, I don’t have the ability to do so at present. I can deeply understand that knowledge changes fate, so I would like to work as a front-line teacher. Through this way, I would like to reward you for your help, and help those children in the poor mountain area.”
Besides, when Mr. Pan is successful in his career, he makes an important decision that is to set up scholarships in the alma maters of NCM top management officers. Since 1998, NCM has provided regular scholarship to Zhongshan University, Sichuan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and etc. NCM has also provided provisional subsidy to universities. Every year, NCM subsidizes International English Education Center, and helps thousands of students. Moreover, Mr. Pan Minqi subsidizes UNICEF, China Welfare Institute, Song Ching Ling Foundation, and other public welfare activities. Mr. Pan adopted a Panda in Ya’an.
Mr. Pan Minqi, a head of an enterprise is gradually spreading his concepts to NCM staff’s minds. With his influence, NCM people will devote ourselves to public welfare as much as we can. Mr. Pan is realizing a citizen’s and an enterprise’s responsible care towards the society as well as promoting the scientific sprits.
